Step 1: Measure wall height
Measure from ceiling to baseboard in at least three places. Use the longest measurement.
Step 2: Measure wall width
Measure the width of each wall you plan to cover.
Step 3: Account for pattern repeat
Add 10-15% extra for pattern matching and waste.
Step 4: Subtract openings
Deduct square footage for windows and doors, but keep some extra for safety.
Essential tools:
- Smoothing brush or plastic smoother
- Sharp utility knife and extra blades
- Measuring tape
- Pencil for marking
Optional but helpful:
- Wallpaper steamer for removal
- Primer or sizing for better adhesion
- Step ladder or scaffolding
- Laser level recommended
